The annual “Freedom of Giving” holiday event—in honor of the late Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. (aka “Freedom”)—was held in December at Planet Hollywood in New York’s Time Square. More than 100 foster care children (from the NYC Administration for Children’s Services and the Jewish Board of Family & Children’s Services) were provided with gifts and inspirational messages from special guests Rev. Al Sharpton, recording artist Jaheim, Ilyasah Shabazz (author of Growing Up X), and former BET anchor Jacque Reid.

Through Terrie’s affiliation with The New York Coalition of One Hundred Black Women, the organization purchased 100 copies of Stay Strong: Simple Life Lessons for Teens from the Hue Man Book store in Harlem. The books were donated to students from the Jewish Foster Care Association, the William Taft High School in the Bronx, and the Literacy for Incarcerated Teens program of the Passages Academy.

Terrie was featured in Kiante Young’s Young & Doin’ It magazine for teen entrepreneurs in which Terrie focused on how to promote yourself in life and business. Terrie also offered support and advice for the young entrepreneur.

SSF donated copies of Stay Strong: Simple Life Lessons for Teens at the “Shades of Beauty 2” self-esteem forum in Brooklyn. The books were featured as raffle items for this event. There were over 130 teen girls present.

Through the Foundation, the Marie K. Williams Annual Scholarship Program continued to provide a $500 grant to a graduating student at Mount Vernon High School (in honor of Terrie's mother). The student must demonstrate outstanding community service and academic excellence.

Terrie and SSF assisted the Ronald McNair Middle School by providing students with Sean John “Vote or Die” T-shirts and by putting their school in contact with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ non-profit political awareness organization entitled Citizen Change.

The Foundation donated Stay Strong: Simple Life Lessons for Teens books to motivational speaker and PR practitioner Clive E.J. Salmon from Bottled Energy, Inc. to give away to students from various schools participating in his speaking tour.

Terrie serves on the PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) Foundation Board of Trustees Communications Academy to steer more high school students into the public relations field.

Terrie serves on the New York City College of Technology (Brooklyn, NY) Advisory Board to guide students into marketing and communications.
